Fire and disaster preparedness is an important aspect of our community’s public safety. We cannot forget the lessons of the past and must engage with ALL residents to ensure the safety of our communities. Key policy proposals for improved safety include:
- Prioritize funding for outreach and education for disaster preparedness
- Establish a regional fire authority; fires and earthquakes don’t stop at the Oakland/Berkeley line
- Reopen the Jack London Square fire station
- Paramedics on fire trucks in East Oakland stations
